Ten Questions to Ask a Financial Advisor.

  1. Does your financial advisor have a team in place to serve you and manage your accounts?
  2. Does your financial advisor offer full transparency, including disclosing his method of compensation?
  3. Does your advisor have experience in retirement income planning and estate planning?
  4. Does your advisor require periodic reviews with investment allocation recommendations, tax review, cash flow review, and money manager review?
  5. Does your advisor limit the number of new clients he takes on in order to provide present clients with exceptional service?
  6. Is your advisor affiliated with an independent broker/dealer, or does he have a bias to sell you proprietary products?
  7. Is your financial advisor committed to personalized service (does he respond promptly to your calls and inquiries?)
  8. Does your financial advisor have the ability to work on a fee based on his performance?
  9. Does your financial advisor prepare customized plans for each client, focusing on all comprehensive planning strategies?
  10. Does your financial advisor have at least one of the following professional credentials: CLU®, ChFC®, or CFP®?
